UV rays can damage the skin even when the situation seems low-risk: they are invisible, they reflect easily off surfaces such as water, sand, and concrete, and the perceived heat does not always correspond to their actual intensity. The data clearly shows that the risk increases rapidly as the sun rises higher in the sky: shadows become shorter, direct irradiance increases, and safe exposure times decrease drastically. Even when the sun is not yet very high, UV levels can already become significant. In addition, the UVA component, which is mainly responsible for photoaging, remains very high throughout the day. For this reason, the risk should not be underestimated even when the light appears less intense.
